| Exfoliants | ||||
Walnut Shell Powder: (fine for face): a mid brown, finely ground powder suitable for making facial exfoliants. Really quick and simple recipe is to mix a little organic liquid castille soap or carrier oil with the powder and apply to the face. Rice and Adzuki Bean Powder: (medium coarse): a wonderful ingredient (lets get cooking!) which can be used for deep exfoliating and/or as a face mak. As an exfoliant, it is more suitable for use on the body and would work a treat on the buttocks and thighs! Again, for a very basic exfoliating scrub, mix this blend with a little organic liquid castille soap or carrier oil and apply to the body (in the shower). You could also mix this with a little water or floral water, a smidge of glycerine or carrier oil and maybe essential oils to make a face mask. The rice powder is excellent for inflamed skin, acne; has moisturising and water retaining effects and is also said to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which improves suppleness. Dessicated Coconut (medium texture) a great exfoliant in body scrubs, massage bars or soaps and can also be used as an addition in bath salts (where it will have skin softening and moisturising effects) and also as a decorative topping for bath melts, body creamers.

| Herbal Powders | ||||
These powders are all excellent to use for making skin, hair and natural healthcare products. They could be used to make herbal oils or water infusions at 5% herbs to 95% oil or water. Simply infuse on a double boiler for around 1 hr, strain and decant. The resulting product could then be used on its own or as an ingredient in more complex recipes e.g body creams, balms, hair conditioners, shampoo's, rinses etc Horsetail Powder:contains high levels of Silica and has traditionally (in Ancient Roman and Greek medicine) been used to help "heal and knit" skin and bones making it a useful herb in products made for inflammation, burns, breaks etc. The high Silica content also makes Horsetail an excellent anti ageing herb, useful ingredient for brittle nails (maybe infused in a carrier oil) and its high Selenium content makes it a useful ingredient in hair care products, particularly for improved scalp circulation which can stimulate hair growth. Not suitable for water retention due to impaired cardiac or kidney function Oatstraw Powder: also another high Silica nutritive herb, which is excellent for the bones (in particular osteoporosis), skin, hair and nails. Oatstraw is also a great nerve tonic for exhaustion, stress and anxiety but can also be applied topically for nerve conditions such as neuralgia. Seaweed Powder: this is a fantastic all rounder which can be used for skin and hair care: purifies and soothes the skin and/or scalp (useful for dry itchy conditions), helps to improve skin elasticity, is balancing to dry or oily skin/scalp, can help to break down fatty depositis (e.g cellulite of course when combined with a healthy diet, exercise and plenty of water intake). Seaweed is also rich in vitamins A, B, C, K and E plus trace minerals. Can be used to make facial or body masks, bath salts, body exfoliators or even infused in carrier oil as a hair oil as it will help to detoxify and improve scalp circulation which assists hair growth. Not suitable for those with Iodine allergies or thyroid conditions
