Cassia

Cassia Obovata (also known as Senna Obovata) is a natural plant powder, which is used as a natural conditioning hair treatment.  It will leave your hair feeling soft, shiny and if naturally curly, will temporarily help to loosen any coils or kinks in the curl pattern.

For those with grey, blonde or very light brown hair, Cassia may lighten your hair depending on the length of time it is left on.  It can also be mixed with Henna for Strawberry Blonde or Coppery tones.

Uses Full Head: Mix with warm water to make a paste (to about the consistency of yoghurt), leave for 15 mins and apply to the clean, dry hair with protective gloves on.  Put a plastic cap on your hair and leave on for 1 up to 4 hrs.  Wash off with conditioner.

For a full hair mask, the amount you will need, will depend on the length and thickness of your hair. For a general idea, 100g is sufficient for one application of Cassia on shoulder length, very thick hair.

Cassia can also be used to make Herbal Hair Oil Infusions or a couple of teaspoons can be added to your Regular or Deep Conditioner.

Whilst Cassia is natural, if you do have concerns regarding allergic reaction, please carry out a test patch by mixing a little of your paste and apply to the inside of your elbow for 24 hrs prior to full use.

Available in 100g and 250g sizes.

Henna

Henna (Lawsonia Inermis) is a natural hair dye, which comes from the leaves of the Henna plant.  It is long lasting and the colour outcome will vary from intense red (on blonde hair) to coppery red (on grey hairs) to reddy, burgundy higlights on brown, dark brown or black hair.  Henna also strengthens the hair and like Cassia, can temporarily loosen the curl pattern of tightly coiled or kinky hair.

The colour outcome will depend on a number of factors: your natural hair colour, the amount you apply to your hair and the length of time you leave the Henna on for.  Henna can also be mixed with Indigo to achieve a darker brown or black colour or other herbal powders such as Amla to tone down the "reddiness".

Uses: Full Head: Mix with warm water, a little sugar (to improve the consistency) and a little lemon juice (to aid dye release) to make a paste which is like the consistency of thick yoghurt, place a cover on your bowl and leave overnight to allow for full dye release. Apply to the clean, dry hair with protective gloves on.  Put a plastic cap on your hair and leave on for 1 up to 6 hrs.  Wash off with conditioner.   Although you will be able to see the Henna colour on your hair, it can take up to 3 days to settle and for the final colour result to show.

For a full hair mask, the amount you will need, will depend on the length and thickness of your hair. For a general idea, 100g is sufficient for one application of Henna on shoulder length, very thick hair.

Henna can also be used to make Herbal Hair Oil Infusions or a couple of teaspoons can be added to your Regular or Deep Conditioner to make a Henna Gloss for a more subtle effect.

Henna lasts a long time, if you are unsure as to whether to go full steam ahead, carry out a strand test beforehand, particularly if you already have synthetic chemicals e.g dyes, perms, relaxers on your hair.

Henna can prevent synthetic chemical dyes from penetrating the hair.  If you decide to go back to synthetic hair dyes, again, ask your hairdresser to do a strand test before applying over your Hennaed hair.

After perming or relaxing your hair it is advisable to wait at least 2 weeks before applying Henna.

Whilst Henna is natural, if you do have concerns regarding allergic reaction, please carry out a test patch by mixing a little of your paste and apply to the inside of your elbow for 24 hrs prior to full use.  Henna is safe to use in pregnancy, however I would advise all pregnant ladies to take extra care in their product useage during the 1st trimester.

Available in 100g and 250g sizes.
