  1. National Gardening Week - Top Picks for Gardeners

    Posted on

    Gardeners Top Picks

Today is the first day of National Gardening Week!

If you are keen gardener, you will know that despite the joy of seeing your garden in bloom, it does come with its' pitfalls to our hands, feet, neck, back and shoulders!

So for that reason I thought I would write a short post on both treatments and organic products that can assist!

In terms of treatments I offer

    • Manicures, Pedicures, Foot Soak and Leg Massage, Indian Head Massage, Swedish or Aromatherapy Massage.

    Gardeners Top Picks

For natural, organic products you can use at home, my top picks for gardeners are:

Wild Rose SPF 30 Moisturiser - an organic, mineral based SPF that can be used on both the face and the body.

Citronella Formula -  an insect repellent spray made with natural essential oils.

Stellaria, Calendula or Lavender and Aloe Creams - all of which can be used for insect bites, rashes or itchy skin which can occur when gardening.

Aromatic Foaming Bath or Seaweed and Arnica Bath Foams - natural aromatherapy bath foams which are perfect to soak away aches and pains

Aromatic Massage Oil or Aromatic Body Butter which like the bath products, contain organic essential oils which are helpful for aches and pains

Lastly there is the Melissa Hand Polish to exfoliate dry and dead skin on the hands or feet and a gorgeous selection of aromathrapy Hand Washes and Hand Creams.

Aside from both the treatments and products, it is wise to

    • Garden for short periods of time
    • Have a nice bath if you are prone to aches and pains
    • Avoid gardening between 12 and 3pm in hot, sunny weather
    • Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses in hot weather
    • Wear gardening gloves.
    • Reapply your SPF cream every 90 mins to 2 hrs.

Lastly, if you suffer from allergies, I have written another post here where I share the best treatments and products which can assist.

Enjoy your garden and if you would like to know more about this years National Gardening Week, please click here.

    Until next time

  2. Stress Awareness Month: De-Stress with Holistic Treatments

    Stress and Holistic Treatments

    Happy April Fool's Day!

This month is National Stress Awareness month so I will be writing a series of posts around this important issue.

Stress can build up for a number of reasons and tends to be caused by a variety of circumstances such as:

Too much to do   Lack of Time          Financial Worries                Workload
Job Uncertainty   Family Troubles     Relationship Breakdowns   Bereavement
Moving Home     Urban Life              Conflict at work or home    Isolation
Redundancy         Retirement              Going to University            Planning a Wedding
Pregnancy            Becoming a Parent  World problems and so on…

Long term chronic stress manifests itself in many different ways and can have a negative impact on our physical, mental and emotional health.

Some of the common effects of long term stress include:

Headaches, Physical and Emotional Tension, Muscular Aches and Pains, Digestive upsets, Exhaustion, Hyperactivity, Anger and Irritability, Feeling Overwhelmed, Anxiety & Depression Over thinking Insomnia, Loss of Concentration Reduced ability to make decisions, Brain Fog and more.

In terms of the Holistic treatments I offer they are all deeply relaxing and soothing for the Mind, the Nervous system and your Emotions.

If you have physical aches and pains caused by tension and your energy levels are depleted, then Swedish massage is your best choice.

If you have tension, aches and pains and/or your nerves feel frazzled, then an Aromatherapy massage with essential oil blend to soothe your body and relax your nervous system would be more suitable.

If stress primarily affects your emotional state, then I would advise Reflexology, Reiki, Bach Flower Remedies or Crystal Healing.  Reflexology is also useful for people with multiple health conditions as each system (e.g digestive) and organ (e.g liver) is stimulated during a treatment.

I also make customised organic aromatherapy massage oils. I can also order you a huge variety of organic skin care, body care and natural health products for stress relief from Neal's Yard, whom I work with as an independent consultant.

Ok that's all folks stay tuned for further posts on Stress relief this month.

    Until next time
